Unbeknownst to the Republic, the Legion had a workaround for their expiry date built in by their creator: Zelene Birkenbaum. By harvesting the bodies of fallen Processors they were able to create AIs based on their brains that would be nicknamed "Black Sheep" and "Shepherds".
The Republic's most advanced unit, the Spearhead Squadron, eventually learned of these new models, including a railgun-type Legion that could easily topple the Eighty-Five Sectors' defenses.
On August 25th RY , during the Republic's Revolution Festival, while the Handlers of the Northern Front were partying and neglecting their duties, the Legion launched a massive offensive, destroying the minefield and Gran Mur surrounding the Eighty-Five Sectors via bombardments from the Railgun Type Morpho before invading the country.
Ignoring her superiors, she contacted all Processors using an illegally modified Para-RAID and allowed them into Republic Territory by deactivating the remnants of the minefield and blasting open the gates of the Gran Mur. Outraged by the Republic's actions, the Alba population was only given the bare minimum of humanitarian aid, whereas the Colorata were offered full Federacy citizenships. Despite the distain for the Republic in the eyes of the international community, the other nations had also lost a lot of man-power in the siege and desperately needed more personnel to liberate the country's northern regions, which were still under Legion control.

They are disgusted with the Federacy's arrangement of building a new military headquarters for the Eighty-Sixth Strike Package. The Holy Magnolian Order of Pureblood party insisted the Federacy to return the Eighty-Six, order their military to retreat, and return sovereignty of the Republic to rightful Alba hands.
Some of them are convinced that this is the Federacy's propaganda to humiliate the republic.
