First Day Out — [Lil Montana]. Last week 9FL Youngn was the new Birmingham artist I covered and although he is flying below the radars of most his talent still jumps off the page enough to let you know that he could make a serious push if he ends up taking his music seriously consistently, but this week, right on cue, Birmingham has a new young rapper making a name for himself by the name of Lil Montana. Against All Odds — [Lil Mexico]. In the past year, Lil Mexico has lept from being a local celebrity in his native rural Grays Court, South Carolina, to without question being one of the pre-imminent candidates to develop into one of the next stars from the Carolinas.
Recently Mexico unloaded his new mixtape Against All Odds which is yet another substantive and consistent project release from an artist that has been nothing short of prolific in his releases to this point, but this project also reveals a tremendous deal of improvement from the youthful rapper.
It is obvious that he has truly found his voice as he is incapable of dropping a subpar verse or hook on this tape and he is beginning to experiment with different pitches that have developed into a much broader vocal range and a variety of new flows.
No Dealings- [Lil Keed]. Lil Keed has been on an absolute roll when it comes to dropping music. The production is set with expressive guitar strums, rattling hats, and absolutely booming s. Although his voice sounds like an instrument in and of itself, his always lively background ad-libs bring the energy levels on this track to new heights.
He might not be rapping as intricately or fast-paced as he is known to spit, but his melodic delivery shares emotions and …. News — [Lil Mexico]. He is showing zero signs of slowing down and is improving with every single new release, and that is truly the mark of a great artist.
Lil Mexico absolutely has the potential to become a household name and it is only a matter of time until his notoriety translates from his region to the entire country. I keep finding myself more and more impressed with this track after each listen and I am very excited to see what else Lil Mexico has up his sleeve. Going into the song after hearing the name, I expected to hear some violent and aggressive bars over an even more hostile instrumental, but to my surprise, quite the opposite played through my speakers.
At least as far as the beat goes, JetsonMade created a bubbly, feel-good sound, paving the way for the two rappers to get creative and make a hit.
